ABOUT

AI systems are rapidly gaining the ability to reason, act, and operate in the physical world. As intelligent machines begin performing essential work across manufacturing, healthcare, education, and daily life, we must ensure they remain aligned with human values and accessible to all.

The Fabric Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to building the governance, economic, and coordination infrastructure that enables humans and intelligent machines to work together safely and productively.

To ensure that intelligent machines broaden human opportunity, remain aligned with human intent, and benefit people everywhere.

WHY WE EXIST

AI is leaving the digital realm and entering the world of atoms. Robots and autonomous agents introduce new challenges—physical safety, real-time decision-making, energy and resource constraints, and interaction with human environments.

Today's institutions and economic rails were not designed for machine participation. Without new governance frameworks, we risk misalignment, unequal access, and concentration of power.

SUPPORT CRITICAL RESEARCH

We fund and coordinate research on human-machine alignment, interpretability, machine governance, and economic frameworks that accommodate both humans and machines.

BUILD PUBLIC-GOOD INFRASTRUCTURE

We help develop open systems for: machine and human identity, decentralized task allocation and accountability, location-gated and human-gated payments, and machine-to-machine communication and data conduits.

CONVENE GLOBAL STAKEHOLDERS

We work with policymakers, standards bodies, researchers, and industry leaders to shape the guardrails and norms for deploying intelligent machines at scale.

EXPAND GLOBAL ACCESS & PARTICIPATION

We support tools and programs that allow people everywhere to contribute skills, judgment, and cultural context—whether through tele-operations, education, or local customization of robotics models.

A robot may be able to deliver an item, inspect a site, capture an image, move an object, or perform a task, yet developers still lack a standard way to attach payment to those actions and build applications around them in the autonomous economic activities.

ROBO Governance: Phase 1 and the Foundation Security Council

Today we are launching the first phase of ROBO Governance. This is the foundation for how the ROBO community will help shape the direction of the protocol. Phase 1 introduces a dedicated governance space on Snapshot and establishes a Foundation Security Council to steward every outcome. It marks the start of a long-term commitment to building ROBO together with its community.
